Power Plant DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Under direct supervision of the Power Plant Engineer or the general supervision of City Administration, performs semi--skilled and some skilled work in power plant operation.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Essential Functions Performs routine manual, semi--skilled and skilled work in assisting others in construction, maintenance and repair of the power plant; as directed, operates and maintains equipment or- machinery; participates in job training directed towards future promotion in the City's power plant operation; answers telephone or radio, takes messages, keeps required licensure current; performs related work as required.
Non-essential Functions Performance of tasks when transferred to other city departments, especially performing as Water Operator; interacts with the public, other employees, and supervisors in a polite, calm and professional manner; as requested, runs errands within the city; may be transferred to assist other departments in performing other work; acts to properly obey all orders given by supervisor(s) in charge of the position.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Through training acquires knowledge of the methods and practices used in the operation and maintenance of the power plant's equipment; skill in:
use of required hand tools; ability to:
learn to make appropriate repairs to equipment and to operate same, communciate effectively with co--workers, trainees, the public and all supervisory personnel.
TRAINING AND
Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that will allow the incumbent to acquire the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the required tasks.
Must have Grade IV water operator license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work performed by this position is performed both indoors and outdoors, thus, some inclement weather may be encountered; this job requires some heavy lifting; and some tasks performed carry the risk of explosion.
Normal work week is 40 hours.
Call back to duty may be encountered to meet emergency response or extended work day requirements.
Must be able obtain a Water Operator License and current Nebraska driver's license.
SHIFT SCHEDULE:
The schedule is a rotating shift covering one weekend every 3rd week.
Shift 1 (6AM-2PM) Tuesday thru Saturday (T,W,T,F,S); then2 days off; then Shift 2 (2PM-10PM) Wednesday thru Tuesday (W,T,F,S,S,M,T); then 2 days off; then Shift 3 (10PM-6AM) Friday thru Friday (F,S,S,M,T,W,T,F); then 3 days off; then repaeat shift rotation Falls Citv February 1994 Job Type:
